CRIME RATES BY COUNTRY
According to official data from Eurostat, between 2012 and 2018, the number of robberies recorded by police in EU countries fell by 34%. At the same time, an increase of 8.8% was recorded between 2008 and 2012. Today, most European countries have fairly low crime rates. A similar situation is observed in the richest countries of the planet, located outside the European continent. For example, in Qatar and the UAE.
Important. According to statistics, most crimes, especially violent crimes, are committed by persons aged 20-30 years.
High crime rates are found in countries or regions where poverty and lack of jobs are prevalent. Strict law enforcement and harsh sentences usually reduce crime. Countries such as Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Japan and New Zealand have very low crime rates. This is largely due to very effective law enforcement.
