MINIMUM AND AVERAGE SALARY IN THAILAND

Minimum salary in Thailand

According to the local government, the official minimum wage in Thailand since January 1, 2020 ranges from 313-336 Thai Baht per day, which is equivalent to 9.7-10.4 U.S. dollars. Compared to last year, the minimum wage in Thailand has increased by 5-6 baht (308-330 baht in 2019).

Rates of minimum wage in Thailand by province:

  • 336 baht per day – Chonburi and Phuket.

  • 335 baht per day – Rayong.

  • 331 baht per day – Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon.

  • 330 baht per day – Chachengsao.

  • 325 baht per day – Krabi, Hong Kaena, Chiang Mai, Trat, Nakhon Ratchashima, Ayutthaya, Phang-nga, Lopburi, Songkhla, Saraburi, Sufan Buri, Surat Thani, Nong Khai and Ubon Ratchathani.

  • 324 baht per day – Prachin Storm.

  • 323 baht per day – Kalasin, Chantaburi, Nakhon Nayoka, Mukdahan, Sahon Nakhon and Samut Songkhram.

  • 313 baht per day – Narathiwata, Pattani and Yala.

According to the local Occupational Safety and Health Act, a standard working day in Thailand lasts eight hours or seven hours if the health or safety of workers is threatened. Employers must not underestimate the minimum wage for their employees.

Average salary in Thailand

According to Thai statistics agencies and international recruitment agencies, the average salary in Thailand in 2020 is 14 238 baht per month or 445 dollars. In the capital Bangkok, they earn on average 22,274 baht ($690). In the private sector – 21 301.04 baht, and in the public sector – 30 068.52 baht.
